The monitoring of Spoon-billed Sandpiper (SBS) and other waders by BirdsRussia expedition has been running since 2001, in South East Chukotka, Meinypyl’gyno. In 2023, 30 SBS (25 marked and 5 unmarked) with 11 breeding pairs were recorded. The number of breeding SBS has declined and the number of solitary males has increased in recent years. 10 individually marked wild adult birds returned and two more were ringed. 11 individually marked as wild chicks returned in 2023, and 14 were marked this year. The Head-started project was finished in 2021 after 10 years, and in 2023 4 Head-started birds were observed. Visiting of the other breeding SBS sites became possible with the help of a hydroplane belongs to the Working Group on Anseriformes Association. At one of those sites (Okeanskoye), 6 warning
adult SBS were found, 1 brood with both parents were individually marked and later seen in China, on migration.
