Pholis crassispina and Rhodymenichthys dolichogaster are the most common species of the family Pholidae in Peter the Great Bay (the Japan Sea). To date, there are no quality data for developing and identifying the larvae of these species. In this work, the development of both species and reliable characters for the separation of larvae of these species in plankton in Peter the Great Bay (the Japan Sea) are described.
