The Arctic marshes of the mouths of small rivers on Vaigach Island are among the northernmost in the world.
Despite their geographical location, they have a significant impact on the formation of estuarine ecosystems due to their
significant areas in relation to estuarine channels. In different ecotopes of the marches, communities with dominance of
Arctic and hypo-Arctic plant species are formed: Dupontia psilosantha, Puccinellia coarctata, Puccinellia phryganodes,
Potentilla egedei, Plantago schrenkii, Calamagrostis deschampsioides, Carex subspathacea, Carex glareosa,
Cochlearia arctica, Ranunculus hyperboreus subsp. tricrenatus, Stellaria humifusa. Differences in the structure of
halophytic vegetation of the marches of these rivers are due to geomorphologic reasons. Anthropogenic impact and
natural phenomena affecting biocenoses of marches indicate the necessity of biomonitoring of these biocenoses.
