Photosynthetic pigment content was studied in plants of the mountain and lowland tundras of the Polar Urals. The studies were carried out near the village of Kharp (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug). A total of 61 plant species were studied on 4 studied plots. Data analysis revealed significant differences in the content and ratio of chlorophylls and carotenoids of tundra plants compared to forest and steppe plants. It was concluded that the main factor influencing the pigment content in tundra is a large insolation during the growing season, associated with an increased daylight hours at the Arctic Circle.
