For the first time, a study of eight Eucyclops species widespread in the Palearctic was conducted on several genes (COI, 12S rRNA, ITS1-2 and 18S rRNA). The topology of species on the obtained phylogenetic trees generally coincides with all genes, but does not always correspond to existing concept about the current state of taxonomy and systematics of the genus. High genetic heterogeneity within species has been revealed. Each of the studied species is represented by several genetic lines, which, according to the level of nucleotide differences, correspond to a subspecies, and sometimes to a species level. The reasons for the spread of the genetic lines identified in the work are discussed.
