Sorbus sambucifolia (Cham. et Schlecht.) M. Roem. is a valuable food plant, promising for use in breeding and cultivation both as an ornamental and food plant. The taste qualities of the fruit are rated at 3.6 points on a 5-point scale, higher than that of any other species and varieties of Sorbus. The yield of Sorbus sambucifolia in a shrub community on the slope of the northern coast of the Sea of Okhotsk was determined as 44 kg per 1 ha, the weight of 1 fruit was 0.51+0.01 g.
