During field studies in the eastern part of Kolguev Island (the Barents Sea, tundra zone), a number of samples was obtained describing the relationship between vegetation and patterned grounds. The type of vegetation is most noticeably influenced by its position in the microrelief. The thickness of organic horizons has little effect on the vegetation cover. At the same time, the share of cloudberries shows a greater connection with the humus horizon than with the peat horizon. A relatively small reduction in the granulometric composition of mineral soil horizons leads to the loss of shrubs and grasses in plant communities. The degree of gleyization of soils has little effect on vegetation.
